We adopted these 6 year old siblings in March, and we are so in love! The shelter provided information about some pet insurance, and we were shocked at the lack of coverage and the pricing. So, I started doing some research. Shocking!
There are so many options; so many variables. So many ‘best of’ lists. I like Forbes’ article because there is easy compare. Buyers Guide has choices that aren’t on the others. Ultimately, I got quotes from Ebrace/Geico and Pumpkin. I’d like some others, but my inbox is getting clogged, and you should see my Instagram feed. Yikes. I know that I am not alone in getting annoyed at the barrage of ad messages caused by a search or shopping. Sigh.
The reason I decided to write about this at all is that I went to look at the social conversation about pet insurance, thinking that it might provide some insight. I see that it is not a very branded conversation, which I find fascinating.
I am not surprised the conversation is split by gender. We all love our pets.
The numbers aren’t huge, but I notice that #cat (singular) is greater than #cats (plural) — and that #dogs (plural) is greater than #dog (singular). Mostly, I notice the market calls itself pet insurance (not dog insurance or cat insurance) so we see #petinsurance and #pets by a large margin.
All in all, I think in this case, my best option is to believe the experts who rated the different options. Now, to decide about deductible, coverage, etc.
Anyone have pet insurance that they love?
